7 People Has the Power to Shutdown or Reboot the Internet

I am sure you already had access to internet as you are reading this article. As said, Internet is everywhere all around the world connecting several continents and different people at one place. It doesn’t belong to a single person i.e., it’s not the property of some one or some countries. Internet is rather a network that is shared by all. So below is the answer to the famous question “Who is Owner of Internet?”

ICANN (formed by the representatives of all countries participating in Internet) is the governing body and decision maker of the entire web world.

Recently an event was held in US at a closed high security bunker where ICANN created the “Key to the Internet”. This internet key has the power (control) to Shutdown or Reboot the Internet Network in case of any emergency.

As the key of internet gives too much power for one person, ICANN has decided to broke the Key in 7 different parts and they were handed over to 7 representatives from 7 different continents.

In case of any situation that states “emergency”, at-least 5 among them has to initiate the order to stop the internet.
