Search Engine Optimization Vs Pay Per Click
What is PPC and SEO? Difference between Pay Per Click and Search Engine Optimization.
PPC: Full form is Pay per Click. It is the approach where you pay (bid) for the placements in Search Engine Sponsored Results.
The higher you pay, higher the position of your advertisement will be.
SEO: Short form of Search Engine Optimization (Organic SEO). It is the approach where you have to optimize your web pages (content) using a set of keywords related to your category (keywords collected by doing keyword analysis). Once the search engine robots crawl your website and all the internal pages, then your websites starts ranking in the organic search results for the list of keywords that you targeted.

Organic SEO:
- It costs less. (Well, hiring an SEO will cost you, but not as much as for PPC) Ultimately, the cost for SEO is very less when compared with PPC.
- ROI (Rate on Investments) is substantially better in organic SEO than PPC.
- Stays good in a long run
- CTR (Click Through Rate) of organic listings are usually higher.
- Conversion Rate is also higher
- Doesn’t require regular maintenance. Once the website is perfectly SEO optimized, you don’t have to look back into it until unless you don’t have a good content which is updated regularly.
- No Click fraud activities in SEO as there is no pay per click in SEO.
- The top positions in SERPs are not for sale and are achievable only through Search Engine Optimization.
- Doesn’t provide instant traffic, but in long run provides genuine traffic which stays for a long period of time.
Pay Per Click Ads:
- Costs more (Well, professional management of PPC gives you good results)
- ROI is very important as insufficient management of PPC campaign will result in the loss of hundreds of dollars overnight.
- Stays until you remove/stops the campaign. Long term results not guaranteed.
- CTR is better but not as much satisfactory as in Organic results.
- Conversion Rate is higher
- Requires regular maintenance as small mistake will lead to a very huge loss of money.
- Click Fraud activity is more (Well, many search engines have implemented enough tactics to kill this)
- The top listings in Sponsored results are based on the bids. The highest you bid, the highest your listing will be.
- Quick (Instant) traffic.
So, now decide whether to choose Search Engine Optimization or Adwords Campaign.
