21 Suggestions by Matt Cutts at SEO Site Review Session – Google I/O 2010 Video

Recently, Matt Cutts and his team has done an SEO Site review session at Google I/O 2010 and the complete session has been recorded in a nice video (1hr) which is published out on the Youtube Videos. Matt has covered many important topics in the site review session and following are the headlines of the interactive session that were discussed.

1. Concentrate on adding text on your website instead of crappy images.
2. If you cannot add content, let others do the work for you in the form of comments.
3. Try to register a good catchy title/url with keyword in it.
4. Keywords tag doesn’t weigh more in terms of SEO.
5. Install the latest wordpress version to stay safe from hackers.
6. Webmaster central will be helpful to find out malware in your site.
7. Fetch as Googlebot, a free tool from Google Webmasters that will help you a lot to fetch like google.
8. Original content. Do not copy other content and post it on your site. Try to write your own stuff or read the 2nd point.
9. Make videos, flickr, facebook, twitter (social media promotion)
10.Do not get your bandwidth limit exceeded. Always opt for the best web hosting.
11.Make the most of the user searched and needed sections above the post.
12.Show related contents/posts which make the users stay more time on your site by surfing more.
13.Use dashes (-) instead of underscores (_) to separate two words.
14.Use content for users and not for search engines.
15.use canonical links for duplicate urls like index.html, welcome.php etc…
16.Use videos instead of slideshows. it increases the page load speed.
17.dont buy a bunch of links. just build those links on your merit.
18.dont make more number of micro blogs, instead make a single blog and dedicate your time to make that blog stand well in the SERPs.
